<reviewbody>There is always something a bit odd about watching these old amatuer films, since they clearly have meaning for the people that shot them, but now that meaning is lost.

This film is a case in point. The reel starts with shots in and around an airport and people hanging around the lounge area in the airport. While the shots of the people waiting might have meaning, now the main interest is rare footage of inside a late 1940s airport, exteriors of a United DC-3(?), and the taking off and landing sequences

After the airplane trip, we have shots of various tourist places. Some are indentifiable as in and around San Francisco. Others are unclear; where is the totem pole? Is that bridge the Oakland Bay Bridge or the bridge that spans the mouth of the Columbia at Astoria, OR? Given the fact that the footage seems to jump around a bit, it's not certain. Is that Niagra Falls? Towards the end, we also get some nice color footage of people traveling on the train, including a shot taken out the window that is nicely done.</reviewbody>

<review><reviewbody>Fairly hard-to-follow trip around… well.. wherever they went. I know they went to SF… but after that.. it’s hard to fathom. But it’s sort of fun,. and you can just bet the narrator, wherever he is now (pushing up daisies no doubt) just barking out tips on what these particular locations were. What’s REALLY intriguing though is the little mini-drama they play out in the airport, with everyone saying no, and the guy having a drink, taking a nap, and getting woken up by his friend. I wonder what was going on there.. It was actually neat!
